AMERICA Division is a member of a national organization comprised of over 200 units. Our mission is to encourage the growth and development of American youth by instilling in them patriotism, leadership, discipline, honor, pride, and courage. Cadets develop these qualities through an enlisted-oriented training program with emphasis on leadership skills, accountability, and teamwork. We strive to enable cadets to experience a military environment while furthering their knowledge in their areas of interest.

The NSCC offers American young men and women, ages 13 through 17, opportunities unparalleled by any other youth organization. Our division meets at the Navy Operational Support Center in Richmond, Virginia one weekend a month during the school year.

The US Naval Sea Cadet Corps was established by the Navy League of the United States at the request of the Department of the Navy in 1958.  Recognizing the importance and benefits of the NSCC, the US Congress federally incorporated it on September 10, 1962 under Public Law 87-655 (36 USC 1541).

AMERICA Division was commissioned over 40 years ago in June 1969.  It was named after the USS AMERICA (CV-66), a Navy aircraft carrier that was in service from 1965-1996.  Since its commissioning, AMERICA Division has earned many honors, including the esteemed “John J. Bergen Trophy” for most outstanding NSCC Unit in the Country in 1999 and the Navy League of Canada “Challenge Trophy” in 2008.  It is currently ranked among the top 10 units in the nation.
