America Division is a member of a national organization comprised of over 200 units. Our mission is to encourage the growth and development of American youth by instilling in them patriotism, leadership, discipline, honor, pride, and courage. Cadets develop these qualities through an enlisted-oriented training program with emphasis on leadership skills, accountability, and teamwork. We strive to enable Cadets to experience a military environment while furthering their knowledge in their areas of interest.
The NSCC offers American young men and women, ages 13 through 17, opportunities unparalleled by any other youth organization. Our division meets at the Naval-Marine Corps Reserve Center in Richmond, Virginia one weekend a month during the school year. Physical training, classroom instruction, firearms and swim qualifications are just some of the Division's regular activities. Recent trips have included the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Oceana Naval Air Station and Norfolk Naval Base.
During the summer, Cadets train aboard US Navy and Coast Guard ships and at Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard shore installations across the country. Cadets receive instruction from, and work alongside, active duty and reserve military personnel.
Cadets also have opportunities to train with international Cadet programs in Australia, Bermuda, Great Britain, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and other countries. Several America Division Cadets have had the honor of participating in the International Program.
Every year, each Sea Cadet unit undergoes an Annual Inspection by its Regional Director. America Division has consistently been in the top 10% in the nation for the last 10 years. In 1998, America Division was ranked #1 in the country.
