- FINAL AUTHORITY FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICANTS RESTS WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, NSCC.
How Can You Join?
- The AMERICA Division enrolls new cadets from August through March. Applications are accepted year round. It can take 2-3 months to complete the application process. The unit has a capcity of approximately 30 cadets. If all openings are filled, a waiting list of interested young people is compiled and they are invited to join when a slot comes open.
- We periodically hold RECRUIT MEETINGS to meet with prospective cadets and their parents. This allows us to explain the Sea Cadet Program in detail, answer questions and begin completing the necessary paperwork. A prospective cadet and parent/guardian MUST attend a Recruit Saturday in order to join the Sea Cadets - this is a mandatory regulation.
- League Cadets (associated organization for ages 11-13) must go through the same application process as new recruits. This includes attending a RECRUIT MEETING. Only League Cadets in good standing with their unit and recommendation from their CO will be considered for enrollment in AMERICA Division.
- If you decide to enroll in the program, you will have to complete a set of application forms, which includes medical history information. A current physical exam is required. A school physical (for sports) that is less than 6 months old is acceptable.
- Photocopies of the following documents must be provided:
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Your IMMUNIZATION RECORD and
- Your HEALTH INSURANCE CARD.
- A USNSCC ID card will not be ordered for new recruits until all paperwork and fees have been received. Without a current ID card, you cannot attend drills.
Fees
- The current FEE to join our Unit is $150.00 for the first year, and $75.00 for subsequent years. We provide uniforms, with the exception of dress shoes, boots and underwear.
- Occasionally, cadets are asked to pay additional fees of $10.00 to $25.00 for special drill weekends such as the annual bivouac or weapons qualifications.
- All checks are to be made payable to "America Division, USNSCC".
